NABBLM is Ready to Certify the First Group of Physicians
in Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine!
After more than 1 year of hard work the North American Board of Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine (NABBLM) is proud to announce that the application for the pilot exam is now open!
A rigorous scientific process has been used to define the scope of practice for this emerging field and we are confident that the exam and certification process will reflect an accurate assessment of expertise in Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine (BFLM).
Physicians who have been practicing BFLM for at least 3 of the last 4 years will be eligible for the pilot exam. Please see the certification page for more information.
The exam will be available October 25-28 2023 (PST) online via remote proctoring.
The cost for the pilot exam is $1000, discounted from the anticipated cost of $1500+ for future exams. Because this is a pilot exam, people who do not pass may retake the spring 2024 exam at no additional cost.

We recommend reviewing physician level Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine educational resources such as Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine protocols, Lactfacts from IABLE, Breastfeeding Medicine Journals, and online courses and events taught by physicians.
We are now accepting applications! The deadline for application submission is midnight PST September 25th, 2023. All fees for the examination will be due by October 15th, 2023.

Once you establish your NABBLM account, your will find a link to create an application in your dashboard as shown in the screen capture below. There is a $50 application fee due at the time of submission ($38 USD for Canadian residents).
