Brian Hartman

Dr. Hartman is a breastfeeding and lactation medicine specialist and family physician practicing in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He became acquainted with the field of lactation medicine during medical residency when he was assigned to a breastfeeding clinic as his primary training site. This opportunity was a true blessing, as he has loved every moment working alongside individuals, partners, and their newborns on their journey to optimal breastfeeding. He finds no greater satisfaction than helping a baby grow and aiding an individual in achieving this goal.

Many of his patients have expressed their appreciation for having a lactation consultant and physician, as he offers a viewpoint different from what many patients expect and fully engages himself in their breastfeeding journey. He has also had the opportunity to connect with many of the partners of the lactating individual.

Outside of work, Dr. Hartman spends time with his partner and their rescued dog. He enjoys expanding his movie trivia knowledge and continues to promise friends and family that he will learn to ski and snowboard, given the Rocky Mountains are in his backyard.

It is an absolute honor and privilege for Dr. Hartman to serve on the NABBLM Board of Directors and to help shape the future of breastfeeding and lactation medicine.
